Twice a week – and in summer up to four times a week – F+U offers a diverse programme of free time activities accompanied by a teacher. The students are offered the opportunity to get to know the many facets of Heidelberg’s cultural life and the free time activities available. Participation in these events is free, with the exception of charges for entrance fees or drinks.
Fixed highlights in our programme include a welcome party at the beginning of the month in F+U’s listed party cellar in the old town; a barbeque party, weather permitting, at the same location, a tour of Heidelberg, also at the beginning of the month, and for sports enthusiasts a weekly football and volleyball tournament.
The romantic boat trip on the Neckar is always met with great enthusiasm: departing from the shore of the Heidelberg old town past the Roman fortress of Dilsberg, the destination of the boat trip is Neckarsteinach with its four medieval castles.
The bike tour along the Neckar to Ladenburg is also always met with a big response.
Other highlights are the walk up Philosopher’s Path, the picnic by the Neckar as well as pedal boat trips on the river.
Occasionally there are also longer trips planned, such as the trip to Speyer, with its cathedral, baths and technology museum, or the trip to Strasbourg or even to Paris or to the Munich October beer festival.
The school’s theatre group is a long-running project, under the leadership of a German teacher and former actors. The students have the opportunity to improve their German through drama. The theatre production takes place over several months, but a limited participation is also possible. |
